Georgios D. Matthiopoulos teaches typography and the history of graphic design at the Department of Graphic Design and Visual Communication at the University of West Attica in Athens, Greece. He also works as a type designer for the Greek Font Society. He has authored and translated several books and contributed papers and articles on Greek typography to national and international conferences and periodicals. He has also designed numerous book editions and catalogues for museum exhibitions.

Péter Sher Serfőző is a prominent figure in the Hungarian design industry. Originally trained as an engineer, he gained experience as a web designer at Walt Disney Internet Group while completing his university studies. He also completed a typography course at MOME. His design and strategy studio, zwoelf, works with clients around the world, translating their objectives into effective strategies and visual identities. He is also the author of several books and the founder of the Brandguide Community, a platform for sharing knowledge on branding and visual identity design among professionals.

Indra Kupferschmid is a professor of typography at HBKsaar, University of the Arts Saarbrücken, Germany. She has taught type, typography and communication design at various design schools in Germany and abroad since 1999. As a freelance designer, writer and consultant, she has worked with publications, magazines, type designers, foundries and companies of all sizes. Her research focuses on the recent history of type technology, sans-serif typefaces, type classification, font selection, legibility and type measurements, including work for the German Institute for Standardisation.

Matthijs Sluiter is a graphic designer and typographer based in The Hague, the Netherlands. He is an editor at fontsinuse.com and an occasional contributor to Fontstand News.

Pierre Portelli is a Malta-based artist and designer working primarily in book design, installation and mixed-media art. He is a visiting lecturer at the Faculty of Education at the University of Malta and currently serves as Council President of the Malta School of Art. His work has been exhibited internationally and is held in various collections. He is also co-curator and co-researcher of REL•INK Indelible Narratives.

Éric Nunes is the librarian of the Imprimerie Nationale’s heritage library at the Atelier du Livre d’Art et de l’Estampe, where he also works as a proofreader for the letterpress workshop’s productions. His personal research focuses on wood type manufacturing in France.

Manuel Sesma Prieto holds a PhD with honours in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona and works as a teacher, researcher, editor and translator specialising in typography. He began his professional career as a photographer and graphic designer before moving into academia. For over a decade, he has co-directed Tipo e Editorial, a publishing project dedicated to books on Latino typography. He is a professor in the Design Degree programme at the Complutense University of Madrid, where he also serves as director of the Department of Design and Image.

Giovanni Cavalleri is an Italian graphic designer based in Milan and co-founder of the graphic design studio Paper Paper. He has published several magazines and collaborated with the Italian newspaper la Repubblica for five years. Since 2019, he has taught the Editorial Design course at IED Turin and, through Paper Paper, has worked with several publishers.

Tânia Raposo is a designer, educator and researcher. Currently living in France working on a PhD with the University of Paris VIII in collaboration with the ANRT, and teaching typography at the Type and Media Master, KABK and at ENSAD Nancy.

Örjan Nordling has extensive experience in graphic design and typeface design, having studied graphic design at Konstfack and the Basel School of Design in the 1980s. Over a career spanning more than 40 years, he has worked on visual identities, design strategies and typography for companies and organisations. He now runs Identitype AB, focusing on custom type, retail typography and graphic design. He has contributed to the development of more than 250 visual identities and approximately 40 typeface projects, and has designed various licensed typefaces. His awards include the Red Dot Award, the European Design Award and the ISTD International Typographic Award, among others.

Markus Itkonen has worked as a graphic designer since 1984, focusing especially on non-fiction book design since the late 1990s. He founded his own graphic design company in 1987 and holds a Master of Arts degree (1991) and a Doctor of Arts degree (2012). He is the author of the Finnish Handbook of Typography, first published in 2003, with its sixth edition released in 2021. His doctoral thesis was titled The Lost Typefaces: Finnish Type Design 1920–1985.

Klementina Možina graduated from the Faculty of Graphic Arts in Zagreb, Croatia, and received her PhD from the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana, Slovenia, in 2001. After working at the Mladinska Knjiga publishing company, she joined the University of Ljubljana in 1998. She is a full professor at the Chair of Information and Graphic Arts Technology, where her research focuses on the history and usability of typography, graphic elements and visual communication, including user experience.

Cătălina Zlotea is a Romanian typographer, graphic designer, researcher and educator. She holds a PhD and an MA from the University of Reading in the UK and is a lecturer in the School of Design at the University of Leeds, where she teaches on BA and MA programmes. Her research focuses on sociotechnical approaches to typography and explores how the visible forms of language – including writing systems, letterforms, diacritics and conventions of composition in both official and vernacular contexts – reflect and shape communities, identities and cultures.

Alexey Murashko is a Riga-based designer with a primary focus on books, editorial design projects and visual identity works. His approach to contemporary book design combines extensive project research, a strong visual narrative, design reduction, thoughtful resource planning and careful physical realization. In selected publications, he also acts as co-editor and co-publisher, striving for a more holistic result. His work has received multiple awards and recognitions.

Tom Mrazauskas is a freelance book designer and typesetter from Lithuania who works with publishers in Germany, Latvia and Lithuania. He has also self-published books, organised a conference on publishing and book design, and received several international awards.

Naoise Ó Conchubhair is a multidisciplinary designer working across brand, digital and typographic design. At Detail. Design Studio, he leads digital strategy and design projects for cultural, corporate and community clients, including the Irish Museum of Modern Art and Cambridge University. A graduate of the National College of Art and Design and a native Irish speaker, he also contributes to design education as an Associate Lecturer at IADT and a visiting lecturer at Auburn University in Alabama. His academic research focuses on expressions of national identity through type.

Arja Karhumaa is a graphic designer, text artist and Associate Professor of Visual Communication Design at Aalto University in Finland. Her work spans text design, experimental writing, artistic research and poetry. She is the founder of the Centre for Text Margins and co-founder of the experimental publishing collective Multipöly. Her interests include written language, typography and publishing as a creative practice.
